I’m a psychotherapist (licensed as a Marriage and Family Therapist) and have a PhD in American Studies. I’m also a writer and clinical professor of psychiatry. I am on the faculty at Texas A&M Medical School’s department of humanities in medicine and have taught couples therapy at the Steve Hicks School of Social Work at The University of Texas at Austin. I’ve also taught courses on American counseling, history, culture, and psychology at UT Austin, Southwestern University, and Mount Holyoke College.

My Background

I grew up in Connecticut, and earned a BA in Psychology from Vassar College. I also hold a Master's in English a PhD in American Studies (both from UT Austin), and a Master's in Professional Counseling (from Texas State). My professional life is divided between my psychotherapy practice, my writing, and my teaching.
